Multi-Peril Crop Insurance (MPCI)

(MPCI) is subsidized, supported and regulated by the federal government, to protect against either the loss of your crop yields due to natural disasters, including excessive moisture, drought, freeze and disease, or the loss of revenue due to declines in the prices of agricultural commodities.

Crop-Hail & Named Peril

Unlike MPCI, a Crop-Hail policy can be purchased at any time during the growing season. Crop-hail provides supplemental, acre-by-acre protection from financial loss due to damaged or destroyed crops. It provides protection to the insured crop up to the actual cash value from direct loss due to hail or other named perils. We offer a variety of deductible and endorsement options to meet your risk management needs, which includes coverage for fire department service charges, transit coverage to the first place of storage, and replanting coverage (crop specific). Crop Hail does not cover disease, insect infestation, lodging, loss of markets or delayed maturity.

Grain fire insures for direct loss to a crop caused by fire and lightning before harvest and while the crop is still in the harvester. Crops insured include wheat, barley, oats, rye, corn, grain sorghum and soybeans in specific areas.

Pasture, Rangeland, Forage (PRF)

Rainfall Index – Pasture, Rangeland and Forage (RI-PRF) is a federally-reinsured product that provides protection against a single peril – lack of precipitation. Coverage can be purchased in 5% increments of levels between 70%-90%, by landlords, tenants and owner/operators for those acres important to their haying or grazing operation.

Producers select coverage levels, productivity factors and two-month index intervals to personalize their plan. PRF uses weather data collected by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to determine rainfall levels. When the final grid index falls below your trigger grid index, you may receive an indemnity.
